Holiday cheer in Seattle – AACC PNW hosts its first Christmas party

Members of the Australian community in the greater Seattle region gathered on Sunday 11 December to celebrate the holiday season in the most Aussie way possible – a backyard Christmas party.

The Australian American Chamber of Commerce Pacific Northwest proudly hosted its first Christmas party for both members and non-members of the organization. Nearly 100 people enthusiastically braved the December chill, turning out for roasted lamb, pork belly, sides, snacks and desserts.

San Francisco Consul General Nick Nichles and Deputy Consul General Odette Hampton also attended the party, at the invitation of the AACC PNW board. The Australian consulate in San Francisco is a partner of AACC PNW, and will be working with the organization in 2023 to support its continued growth.

Door prizes were awarded to two lucky attendees, and many people also participated in a classic Aussie meat raffle. The winners received large meat trays and Australian goodies.

The AACC PNW board extends its heartfelt thanks to Wayne and Shannon Huggins for hosting the party.

Santa meets a fan.

It’s been a busy year behind the scenes for the AACC PNW board. The organization launched in mid-2022, rebranding from the existing Australian New Zealand American Society (ANZAS).

Aside from working to host a summer BBQ and Christmas party in 2022, the board has been developing a business plan and strategy for 2023. Several events are planned for next year, including an upcoming Australia Day event in Seattle.

It’s a great time to become a member of AACC PNW. If you sign up for a new membership or renew an existing ANZAS membership before December 31, you will receive a $10 discount. For more information, visit our Membership page.
