The U.S.-Australia Alliance: Aligning Priorities in the Indo-Pacific with Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles

Over the last several years, Australia has emerged as a critical ally and partner of the United States in the Indo-Pacific region. In late May of this year, Australia held federal elections, which resulted in a Labor-led government for the first time in nine years. This new Australian government confronts a significantly degraded regional security environment and will face consequential defense policy decisions.

Please join the CSIS Australia Chair on July 11 at 3 p.m. EDT as Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles MP offers his insights into Australia’s view of the evolving security landscape in the Indo-Pacific, the U.S.-Australia alliance, and the new Australian government’s approach to defense and national security. This discussion will be moderated by Charles Edel, CSIS Australia Chair and Senior Advisor.
